Seal Associates, a premier audit and financial advisory firm based in Nairobi, Kenya, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate Accountant to join our growing team. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day data entry of transactions (e.g., purchases) into accounting software.
  • Conduct reconciliations for banks, suppliers, payroll, credit cards, VAT control, and other accounts.
  • Prepare schedules to support management reports and financial statements.
  • Process monthly accruals, prepayments, and maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedule.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes for assigned clients.
  • Complete the monthly financial accounting cycle and produce error-free accounting reports.
  • Lead audit engagements, including planning, team training, risk evaluations, and reporting in compliance with IFRS and regulatory standards.
  • Review client compliance with Kenyan tax laws (e.g., VAT, corporation tax) and provide advisory support.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through professional, timely, and responsive communication.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to improve procedures and enhance efficiency.
  • Prepare financial statements and management reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Supervise and assign tasks to team members based on experience and complexity.

Job Requirements

Skills and Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (CPA or ACCA preferred) with 3–4 years of post-qualification experience in accounting/bookkeeping in a busy environment.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks Online/Desktop, etc).
  • Strong double-entry bookkeeping skills and thorough knowledge of accounting fundamentals (accruals, prepayments).
  • Good understanding of Kenyan tax regulations (VAT, corporation tax) and IFRS.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes, including Financial Reporting.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc) and proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Teams). Will include an online test during interview stage.
  • Proven audit experience, including managing the complete audit lifecycle, team leadership, and risk evaluation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset with a positive learning attitude.
  • Big 5 experience is an added advantage.
